AUSTRALIAN INSPIRED WALLPAPER

Let’s talk wallpaper trends! Everything begins somewhere and we’ve been finding many unique patterns emerging from Down Under. Many design practices don't become current in North America until years after a trend has been current in its originated country.

Many amazing wallpaper creations are coming from Memo Showroom. With wallpaper in particular we are finding it to be very hot right now to find playful ways to add texture and interest to your home. There are many different looks that you can achieve whether that be a feature wall in your bedroom or all walls in a bold bathroom.

LIONS, TIGERS + PRINTS

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! More prints are being inspired by the animal kingdom. Not just in the interior design world but in the fashion industry as well—cheetah print, snakeskin, mule, and dalmatian patterns can be seen everywhere. Who doesn't love a bold print that resembles an animal? Well the good news is you can replicate these looks into your wall-coverings or even fun tile shapes. Try using these wallpaper in a kids room for some fun inspiration.

FLORAL + GREENERY

Floral and greenery are heavily influencing artists & designers in wallpaper as well as art installations. Many elements of design in the West Coast are curated by natural surroundings such as landscape horizons, flowing streams, and botanical gardens. These same elements are now being mirrored on wallpaper. Check out our Lamontagne residence with a bold, moody floral print wall-covering for some inspiration.

PLAYFUL ABSTRACT PRINTS

Playful abstract prints are a quirky trend right now that bring individuality to design. Patterns range from subtle lines to wild patterns depending on the amount of character you are after.

These can be super timeless, as abstracts are things you see in everyday life. Sometimes they do play off of nature with lines mimicking mountains or straight lines of the horizon. These amazing patterns can be used in many different room & forms to showcase abstract art at its finest.

WATERCOLOUR ART

Fall in love again with the youthfulness and soft movements of watercolour art. These trends layer in unique compositions to keep your eye moving throughout the room. Curvilinear lines or even abstract forms can mould these watercolor designs, they don't just have to look like “water.” However, many watercolour pieces nod back to nature forms—it just has to flow.

Tip: Next time you are on vacation take notes of your design surroundings, as these foreign countries can be 2 steps ahead while we are 3 steps back. Let us know of any unique trends that have caught your eye on your travel excursions.
