Televisions have become a piece we love to hate! That battle between a piece of art of the old school television.The Frame by Samsung has changed the playing field for designers and possibly stopped a few design heart-attacks over the last few months! Most Televisions these days a big black boxes hung above a fireplace or placed in a styled living room setting. As an interior designer living on the Canadian west coast, I find most of my inspiration from looking out at and being in our rich wilderness.
Bathrooms, these day’s with the flipping marketing, homes being renovated and new buyers seeing a old bathroom space, seeing those 30min home renovation shows and thinking not a problem we can turn this old space in to a “Wow SPA” in just one weekend. Not fully understanding what it truly takes to craft a spacious bright bathrooms space. A typical bathroom these days can cost anything from 20K- 60K for a full renovation. With interiors inspired by relaxed sophistication and midcentury modern touches, a busy family with some fun young girls needed a space to not only entertain, but cozy up and watch a movie as a family. We all have envy for those amazing grand gallery walls that just look so perfect. Have you ever wondered how these are created? Let’s get bold and beautiful! We were invited in to give a major face-lift to a three bedroom rancher in Langley, British Columbia. Designed for an empty nester we wanted to create home that would be welcoming for her sons to visit with her future grandkids, family birthday parties and a place to foster memories. We started the design process getting to know the home owner, how she lives, her habits and the overall feel she wants to have when she opens her front door every day.

I don’t know about you but my idea of a perfect time isn’t spent in the laundry room, but there are ways to make your experience a little better. These spaces have been neglected with design over the years, take a look at some of our favourite trends popping up in laundry rooms across Canada. The laundry room like any other room needs to be thought out for function, use and style, we have put together a short list of things you should think about when renovating a laundry room space.

Finally, we are only days away from summer! For the underage population that means no homework, sleeping in on weekdays, and beach day is everyday. For most of us grown-ups on the other hand -- we’ll do our best to make a staycation happen whenever possible. Whether you are visiting, or a fellow citizen of our beautiful province of British Columbia, it is my pleasure to present you with some special dining spaces.
What’s new in the flooring works? A question commonly asked! “What is the perfect flooring product! With so many products, styles and finishes on the market, where do you start? Possibly a solid hardwood, an engineered wood product, hard surface like time, or even a luxury vinyl product… and the list goes on. To be fair not one choice is the perfect fit for all homes and all users.

We are always looking for simple cost-effective ways to update a space. Currently we’re LOVING Metrie’s Complete Pre-Painted Shiplap for both these reasons. Metries’s Shiplap comes pre-painted so all you need to do is measure, cut and its ready to install! It’s as simple as that it’s such an easy way to transform a space in just one day! Shiplap can be fairly versatile, it can be used on walls, ceilings, installed horizontally or vertically depending on what look you’re going for.

We think it’s time to give you a walkthrough of this Contemporary kitchen which showcases the best of Kohler, Kallista and The Banfield. Lets start with the cabinets - we used a blended walnut + white oak.
I’m going to let you in on a secret, We have over a 1000 paint samples in our office but we have a select few that we love to use over and over because they’re so versatile and can be used in any space. Paint can seem like a super easy way to update and refresh a space and you’re right, but walking through home depo or Benjamin moore we see arguing couples or just downright puzzled, sometimes pained faces.
For those of you who don’t know me, it is pretty obvious that I love everything to do with design. The most exciting parts of my job is keeping up with the latest trends and styles in design. One of my favourite things is to see old trends coming back to life with an innovative twist. Right now, we are seeing a huge revival of terrazzo, muted pastels and brass in all areas of design – and I must say I am going crazy for it!

There are many different looks when it comes to wallpaper, such as, floral prints, geometric patterns & water colour prints. It’s full swing into fall and with the longer evenings and darker mornings it’s becoming a little more difficult to get up, as a result my routine has become a bit more minimal so I can get those extra 5 mins in bed (let’s do it). With a business owner and designers schedule I could be away from my home for 12-15 hours some days so I need a routine that I can physically take with me. A quick and simple routine that anyone can take on twice a day.
