The Inspiration

The Crafting

Inspired by an urban forest, the Western Living Lounge was an exciting and visually striking project to design. Working with the build team at WesGrove Homes, the goal was to create a lounge area that would make a big impact with limited materials and a tight deadline. The design team utilized black paint, rope, and wood as the primary materials to create a West Coast style that evokes the feeling of a lush forest in the middle of a city.

One of the most striking features of the installation was the tall structure that was used to hang the ropes. This structure was designed to mimic the tall trees of a forest and provided a sense of height and drama to the space. The ropes were suspended from the structure and arranged in a way that created a sense of movement and flow, mimicking the way that branches and leaves sway in the wind.

To enhance the overall design, the team also worked with a chalk artist who drew a cityscape and forest on the walls surrounding the lounge. This added an extra layer of interest and depth to the space and helped to further evoke the feeling of an urbanized forest.

Displayed at the Vancouver Home + Design Show, this lounge made a big impact and unique and memorable lounge area for guests.
